NEXUS Level 2 WATERNESS
Taught by Sophie Costes.
SUMMER 2026 (VALAIS), Switzerland
(50 hours accredited with Watsupath™ Training Institute https://watsupath.com and the Worldwide Aquatic Bodywork Association http://watsu.com for the professional training in Watsu®)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is a Level 2 training in the aquatic bodywork technique Waterness Journey™ and somatic exploration, including authentic movement, integrative body techniques, water jam sessions, and meditation.
The Waterness Journey™ modality equips students with the tools to master various 3D massage techniques, both on the surface and underwater, and to understand the forces that shape movement in the aquatic environment. Beyond exploring the inherent fluidity and possibilities that water transmits, along with its potential for physical and emotional healing, participants embark on a personal, exploratory journey of expressive movement, on land and in water. This integration fosters an inclusive approach to somatic awareness and the therapeutic dimension.
As part of the Waterness Journey™ training program, NEXUS™ focuses on the dialogue between free movement and interactivity in the water.
This second level, NEXUS™, offers students a deeper understanding and a refined language to perfect the Waterness Journey™ technique, preparing them to focus on aquatic therapies. Through fundamental proposals, somatic movement is integrated on land and in water, promoting active listening and conscious presence.
NEXUS™ develops the ability to respond in real-time, combining technical support and therapeutic dimension within a practical and creative framework.
TRAINING-RETREAT CONTENT
EARTH ELEMENT:
- Authentic Movement, Free Movement and Contact: Somatic practice focused on exploring improvisation and self-discovery, both individually and collectively. This process involves uncovering deep and genuine aspects of one’s identity on land to integrate them into water practices.
WATER ELEMENT:
- Amplified Study of Rotational Movements, Oscillations, and Inversions: Practice includes massage, deep stretches, release points, and mobilization with a 360º spherical approach, both on the surface and underwater. Emphasis is placed on understanding the forces at play to apply acceleration and deceleration effectively.
- Facilitation of Spontaneous Movements: Water provides a space for observing and facilitating spontaneous movements, enhancing the interaction between giver and receiver as play partners.
- Dedicated Practice Spaces: These sessions focus on exploring real-time improvisation in water and reviewing the daily technical course content.
- Contact Jam in Water: An interactive session emphasising contact improvisation within the aquatic environment.
